Context
Rewind 4ever is an independent documentary tracing the history of UK garage — from its underground beginnings in the clubs and pirate radio stations of nineties London through to its emergence as one of the defining sounds of British music culture. The film needed key art and a title treatment that could carry the weight of that story while standing on its own as a piece of design.
Challenge
UK garage occupies a specific cultural space — raw and underground at its roots, polished and commercial at its peak. The challenge was to create artwork that honoured both ends of that spectrum, capturing the energy and authenticity of the scene without leaning on cliché, and giving the film a visual identity strong enough to live across posters, digital and editorial.
Solution
We designed a title treatment and key art system rooted in the visual language of the era — drawing on the typographic codes of nineties rave flyers, white labels and pirate radio aesthetics, but reworked with a contemporary discipline that gave the film a sense of authority and permanence. The result reflects the genre's journey from underground to overground in a single image — unmistakably of its time, but built to last. The film went on to screen on UK television, at independent film festivals, and on platforms including Boiler Room TV.
